Dr Jawahar Mathias is a well-known Specialist General Surgeon with more than 30 years of experience. He graduated from St John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India in 1985. He then received training and gained expertise in all branches of General Surgery, Endoscopy and Laparoscopy in the United Kingdom. He was conferred with fellowships (FRCS) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1992 and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1993. He later gained experience in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery including Liver Transplantation in Kings College Hospital, London, UK and St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.
He has been working in the UAE since 2000, initially full time as Head of Surgery (which included a stint as Medical Director) at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital and now works there part time as a visiting surgeon. Since 2010 he has been working at Dubai London Speciality Hospital as a General and Gastro-Intestinal surgeon performing urgent and non-urgent surgeries, Endoscopies and Laparoscopies.
He has expertise and specialises in all areas of General Surgery including Hernia repairs, Abdominal operations, Gallbladder and Appendectomy, Anal surgery (hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas and abscesses), Thyroid surgery, Breast disease, Varicose veins and skin and soft tissue lesions and tumours. He also does upper and lower GI endoscopies both diagnostic and therapeutic.
