The brilliance of Botox® (Boutlinum Toxin)

Since its first application in 1978, Botox® has evolved into one of the most popular cosmetic treatments. This dynamic treatment involves the direct injection of a purified neurotoxin called Botulinum into the treatment site, relaxing the muscle (controlled muscle paralysis) by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles and causing signs of aging such as drooping eyebrows, wrinkles, and dynamic lines to disappear. Botox® is the brand name of the drug botulinum toxin; other popular brands like Dysport®, Xeomin® etc. With the FDA’s approval of many cosmetic indications, injections are now used with much greater confidence.

The treatment takes just 10 minutes to complete, with the final results becoming visible in a few hours to three days. The peak effect is visible on day 7 after the injection. Though effective, the treatment is not permanent. Facial alterations are temporary due to the non-surgical nature of Botox. Depending on the treated area, the effect may last three, six months, or longer. To maintain the effect, you will need regular follow-up injections.
